THE COMPANY

Ernest Jackson are looking for a Financial Accounting Manager to provide financial accounting support to Ernest Jackson and to business partner the local management team in the pursuit of genuine insight, ensuring a very high standard of financial control.

Demonstrating good people management skills, the job holder will manage a team of two (Credit Controller & Accounts Payable Clerk). They will lead, coach & develop their team and provide support and assistance as required.

THE ROLE

As the Financial Accounting Manager, you will:

  • Maintain a high level of financial control ensuring compliance with SOX s404 controls & group accounting policies,

  • Manage the statutory accounts and external audit processes, ensuring stat accounts are signed off on time. Ensure that differences between stats account and US GAAP group reporting are accounted for,

  • Administer the actuals reporting process at period and year end, utilising the local system (IBS), SAP and Oracle HFM for group. Following all steps to ensure accurate and efficient reporting of performance at period end, adhering to all group and internal deadlines,

  • Liaise with EBSC (shared service centre) to manage intercompany processes for both payables & receivables to ensure EJ make and receive accurate and timely payments to and from all intercompany partners,

  • Manage and administer access to banking facilities. Prepare payments in various banking systems for approval and manage relationship with central treasury function,

  • Compile VAT returns, BS reconciliations, intrastat submissions, PSUR data (sales data for licensed products) and run restricted party screening checks on suppliers, and file and retain paperwork for audit purposes,

  • Compile and post journals and administer nominal ledger master data, making changes as required and running reports to analyse finances,

  • Review sales and purchase ledgers regularly to ensure debts and payables are accurately recorded,

  • Seek to continuously improve processes in the finance department,

  • Provide holiday cover and backup for the Credit Controller and Accounts Payable Clerk,

  • Consolidate full P&L forecasts each month as part of monthly re-forecast cycle, through this understand the commercial & operational performance of the business and support the annual contract and group forecast processes as required,

  • Business partner the R&D, IT, Admin & HR functions to produce forecasts and ensure spend targets are delivered or better,

  • Ad hoc analyses as requested by Business Partners and Finance Manager.

Based in Crediton, this role is commutable from Exeter, Okehampton, Taunton, Plymouth and Barnstaple.

Full Time 37.5hrs/wk

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Degree or similar qualification

  • Accounting qualification

  • Strong people management skills with demonstrable experience

  • Financial control / statutory accounting experience

  • Strong communications skills, ability to adjust style to audience

  • Advanced Excel skills and comfort with data extraction and manipulation

  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
