You will be crucial in supporting our business by creating valuable, actionable insights about the data, and communicating your findings to the business. Formulate business problems as data problems and work on solving them through systematic analysis, employing machine learning and data science methods wherever appropriate. You will work with various stakeholders to determine how to use business data for business solutions/insights.

How you will contribute

The current role will have a focus on our growth initiatives through our digitally-inspired-growth program where we would like to develop data driven capabilities to solve challenges to meet our product growth objectives. The role will touch multiple functional areas that include different product category groups, analytical, consumer science and ingredient research. You will be working with a diverse array of people from the larger R&D team to formulate the challenges as a data science problem and work on developing data driven solutions.

• Analyze and derive value from data through the application methods such as mathematics, statistics, computer science, machine learning, data visualization and other quantitative methods.

• Understand business challenges, create valuable actionable insights from data, and communicate your findings to the business, with an emphasis on forecasting and enabling data-driven decision making. After that you will work with stakeholders to determine how to use business data for business solutions/insights.

• Apply mathematical, statistical, predictive modelling or machine learning techniques and with sensitivity to the limitations of the techniques. Develop proper hypothesis, problem formulation and evaluation methods to utilize machine learning and predictive models to generate solutions to problems.

• Build data products and deployable tools that incorporate data analysis, modeling outcomes, visualizations, data flow and automation.

• Take part in data cleaning and processing tasks wherever appropriate. Have an eye on continuously improving the data quality and enforcing data governance for long-term success. Select, gather and integrate data for analysis, evaluate the need for analytics, assess the problems to be solved and what internal or external data sources to use or acquire.

• Take ownership of new streams of data that we collect along with the stakeholders and bring healthy data practices for success of various work tracks. Educate stakeholders on healthy data practices and develop strategies and methods to bring efficiency in data collection and governance

• Take part in the efforts to educate members of R&D on how to utilize data and modeling effectively and upskill key members of various teams.

Education / Certifications:

Bachelor’s or a master’s degree in a quantitative discipline with prior experience in a data science role in a professional setting (3-5 years)

Job specific requirements:

• Strong quantitative skillset with experience in statistics, machine learning, linear algebra (advanced).

• Experience with forecasting models such as ARIMA, dynamic regression models etc.

• A natural inclination toward applying and leading analytical thinking to solve complex problems.

• Knowledge with programming languages including Python (preferred), R, SQL, etc.

• Prior experience with data visualization tools and libraries such as Power BI, Tableau, Matplotlib, Seaborn etc…

• Advanced knowledge of machine learning techniques including regressions, tree-based models, clustering, neural networks, PCAs etc., with prior experience in utilizing them

• Knowledge and experience in advanced probability and statistics concepts including hypothesis testing, probability distributions, ANOVA, etc.

• Excellent communication skills to promote cross-team collaboration.

• Multilingual coding knowledge/experience: Java, JavaScript, C, C++, etc.

• Experience using cloud computing platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP)

• Experience with computer vision, signal processing methods, NLP, deep learning methods

• Experience with any web development libraries such as Flask, Dash, Streamlit, etc…

Work schedule:

Candidates must live within commuting distance of the East Hanover, NJ site. The position follows a hybrid working model, but regular in-office collaboration with colleagues is required.
