This role helps ensure the sustained continuity of technical mastery and line leadership in manufacturing, by leading a key line of the business (technical, system or organizational) to deliver results defined by the compelling business need of the site. You ensure that key business results are achieved and for developing others to ensure the sustained continuity of technical mastery on the manufacturing line. Using a systematic approach, you use strategic thinking skills to ensure results are sustained over the long term.

How you will contribute

In your likely first managerial role, you will ensure that Mondelēz International’s safety, quality, cost, delivery, sustainability and morale targets are achieved for the lines for which you are responsible by breaking down section targets into line and unit targets and ensuring that employees understand their individual performance goals related to the overall targets. In this role, you will also develop budgets and be responsible for costs control management, governance and compliance, loss elimination and workforce planning, including recruitment, retention, development, succession planning, and the identification of high potential team members. Without you, we would not be able to deliver high-quality snacks to our customers.

  • Total productive maintenance and Six Sigma including qualification of AM steps 5-6, and PM step 3

  • Leading line teams

  • Handling challenging interpersonal situations tactfully

  • Influencing people in a union environment

  • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing and a good attention to detail

Education:

Technical Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

Requirements

3 to 10 years of operational experience

3 to 10 years of Leadership experience

3 to 10 years of Continuous Improvement experience.

Under the direction of the Business Unit Manager, and working closely with other Managers and Supervisory staff, the Line Manager has overall accountability for the performance their line(s) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They ensure high quality product is produced, on-time and at required cost. The Line Manager is responsible for labour efficiencies, coordination of product trials and production schedule changes and compliance of line employees with regards to GMP’s and Health & Safety regulations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES

Direct activities on the line to meet overall performance objectives for:

  • Safety (TIR, QRP/STOP, BOS)

  • Quality (RFT, CCPM, Quality Conversations)

  • Cost (GE, Labour, Raw, Pack)

  • Delivery (CTS, Attainment/CTS)

  • Morale (Kaizens, RCA participation & completion, Training completion as per skill matrix)

Manage the staffing process to ensure colleagues are trained and have the necessary skills to perform all required duties, safely and effectively.

Manage all hourly recruitment, internal transfers and all employee cycle events through Workday. Provide proactive Safety leadership for the line(s), ensuring QRP/STOP observations GEMBA walks are happening cand accident and incident reports are completed.

Review findings and identify root causes & ensure corrective actions are completed. Ensure BOS and QRP targets for him/her team are met Deliver quality product that is in-specification and right first time.

Ensure all quality parameter checks are done correctly, on-time and recorded in the Quality Suite database.

Audit the Line Leader process audit system.

Initiate and drive root cause identification activities and implement corrective action and preventative action plans for line losses.

Deliver minimum of 1 structured improvement project per year. Plan and Execute skill matrix training for his/her employees ensuring his/her team are properly trained according to the position.

Promote and maintain good employee relations on the line, both personally and through the Line Leader team. Lead the Line Leader team, providing coaching and counselling in conjunction with regular reviews and training.

Ensure all hourly colleagues have a ICP. Lead the line Technical Support Team to ensure each process and equipment on the line follow AM/PM plan as per the site master plan.

Ensure critical equipment and process has fully developed Centerlines and follow Standard Operating Procedures. Actively contribute to AM Pillar journey and line AM activities.

Engage line teams in implementing IL6S work processes for necessary pillars and achieve sustainable results. Be a member of the AM pillar and qualify in assigned work process to help building core team capabilities. Owner of daily management system (DMS)

Owner of GE / UPDT/PDT/ Stops gap analysis driving actions to reduce it according to glidepath Work with the Maintenance Planner and Site Scheduler to ensure delivery commitments are achieved.

Ensure trials, changeovers and maintenance work is planned and completed on time.

Leverage RCA methodology to investigate problems resulting in attainment misses and implement corrective actions. Monitor line performance and ensure output, labour and material yield standards are achieved.

Maintain a critical work plan for the line, to systematically address problems and implement improvements to achieve productivity targets. Ensure labour standards are met and consistently applied by on his/her shift across all lines.

Actively manage labour cost with a focus on absenteeism, meeting overtime and temporary labour targets by effectively managing crewing with support of the Labour Scheduler, and driving an effective Return to Work Process.

Manage Kronos timekeeping system ensuring all hours worked are correct. Ensure Product and Performance data is available and accurate at all times.

Prepare KPIs and reports for use at the Daily Management System meetings, and to communicate performance to the Site Leadership team and Line teams.
