Position purpose description:

  • The role of Category Manager chocolates is an activation role based out of Mumbai and reports directly to Senior Director marketing chocolate (Tablets business).

  • This role is accountable for growth planning, strategy development, activation sufficiency, P&L management and delivery to meet the annual contract (AC) and strategic plan (SP).

  • This role collaborates with cross-functional teams internally and with agency teams externally, to execute the agenda.

Working with cross-functional and regional teams, you implement a portfolio strategy that is aligned with the brand vision to drive sustainable growth. You support profit and loss management and future business development plans and objectives including new product development and platform opportunities.

How you will contribute

Working with other internal stakeholders, you will support the brand portfolio strategy and priorities to enable consumer-centric brand portfolio growth. You will develop annual plans, setting objectives and allocating resources. In addition, you will offer recommendations for integrated commercial plans, develop and execute marketing plans that deliver on revenue and profit forecasts, and share objectives. Based on your deep consumer insights and brand positioning, you will develop and implement integrated marketing communications and 360-degree campaigns.

As the category manager for premium chocolates, you will lead the premiumization agenda for the India chocolates business through a portfolio of brands like Cadbury Dairy Milk Silk, Cadbury Bournville and the flagship owned retail experience Cadbury Purple Room.

  • Ability to inspire stakeholders and agency ecosystem to rally around category priorities.

  • Strong can-do attitude to influence and deliver key growth priorities for the portfolio.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to inspire and mentor a team of brand managers.

More about this role

  • Build the commercial strategy for the premium chocolates category and drive sustainable growth in alignment with the category vision.

  • Brand Management - development of strong marketing communication and activation

  • Development and execution of strategies and growth plans to deliver business targets.

  • Development and execution of brand plans working closely with cross-functional teams incl. Sales, R&D, Manufacturing, Insights and agency partners.

  • Financial P&L understanding and budget management with accountability for Net Revenue, Gross Margin and NC delivery.

  • Understand and build ownership of media planning including execution, review, deployment to deliver brand objectives.

  • Drive the Integrated Business Planning to achieve accurate forecasts on the brand.

  • Own and execute the annual business plans and identify key growth pillars for the brand.

  • Drive clarity of thinking around brand growth priorities and identify the must win battles.

Educational qualification & experience requirement:

  • Graduate degree with master’s in business administration (specialisation in sales and marketing) preferred.

  • 11 - 12 years + work experience with exposure to Sales, brand management, category management, Brand equity/Innovation management.

  • 3+ years team lead experience, experience working in cross-functional and cross-cultural teams.

  • Experience working with and successfully managing 3rd party agencies and strategic partners.

  • Work experience across FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) and specifically experience in Food and beverages companies would be preferred.
