Job Description

Main Responsibilities:

Financial accounting

  • Preparation of RSSL’s statutory accounts, with detailed backup, working closely with Financial Controller, UK tax team and external auditors.

  • Main point of contact for external and internal auditors, managing the collation and provision of audit samples and evidence within the team.

  • Assist in preparation corporation tax return and account for withholding tax across Mondelez entities

  • Supports the month-end closing process and helps analyse and resolve issues as they arise

  • Monthly reconciliation sign-off and review of RSSL P&L and Balance Sheet and cash flow in the form of finance reports.

  • Monthly payroll, pensions and other complex reconciliations.

  • Prepare quarterly VAT return

  • Support required activities related to lease accounting in compliance with new US GAAP guidance

Management accounting:

  • Monthly Sales and Profit reporting and variance analyses for all Reading profit/cost centres including commentary; additional ad hoc internal reporting.

  • Assisting with the reporting of Reading Science Centre financial statements to Group via HFM and Contract management System (CMT).

  • Involvement in the UK financial planning processes including the provision comments on RSSL variances to contract and forecast.

  • Business partnering profit centre managers for annual budgeting and forecasting process as well as yearly pricing reviews.

  • Responsible for approving invoices, purchase orders and intercompany charges in SAP workflows, ensuring correct GL and cost centre allocations.

Supervision and operational management:

  • This role has no direct reports but as the senior member of the team there will be supervisory and operational responsibilities within the team.

  • Assist in training and mentoring to aid development of other team members.

  • Supervision of team members about operations and assisting with identifying and implementing processes improvements.

  • Managing month end processes to ensure the team complete all periodic tasks within required deadlines for a smooth month end close.

  • Providing advice and guidance to the team, alongside that of the financial Controller, covering all aspects of financial and management accounting.

  • Handling day to day financial operations within RSSL including supplier, customer and internal query resolution.

  • Providing cover for the role of Financial Analyst and deputising for elements of the Financial Controller role in their absence.

  • Involvement in projects to aid with the continual improvement of financial performance, efficiencies, decision making, reporting, processes and systems.

  • Working with the UK Internal Controls team to ensure local SOX compliance and correct documentation and review of processes.

Qualifications:

  • Accountancy qualification (ACA/ACCA)

  • Preferably from top accountancy firms or from FMCG industry

  • Demonstrable experience in various accounting and auditing areas

  • Knowledge of corporation tax, VAT

  • Strong team player who manages collaboratively with all stakeholders

  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

  • Experience with financial systems, particularly SAP
