Purpose of the role:

Our pharmaceutical microbiology laboratory performs a wide range of tests including Preservative Efficacy, Disinfection, Microbial limits and Endotoxins to help world-leading pharmaceutical brands and SMEs to develop and supply products that are safe, innovative and of the highest quality.

Due to the phenomenal success of our micro team and service, we are now setting up a new sterility testing facility and we are looking for a new team member with hands-on experience in sterility testing to join our pharmaceutical microbiology laboratory. This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual with some experience looking to lead the setup of a technology.

Our broader business in RSSL supports our parent company Mondelēz International’s where we operate as the Reading Science Centre for Mondelez. This means that we provide the best of the agility and autonomy of being in a small company whilst enjoying the development and growth of being in a larger multinational organisation.

Please note that the role is expected to move to Wokingham at some point in 2019.

Main responsibilities:

  • Set up and validate sterility testing as the key technical expert.

  • Define the SOPs for sterility testing.

  • Assist with technical aspects for client proposals and then perform method development, transfers and design validation protocols with support.

  • Responsible for the maintenance of the clean room and the isolators and approving supplier’s reports (qualifications, repairs and preventative reports).

  • Provide training and supervise junior staff in routine activities and methods.

  • Execute other tests like Preservative Efficacy Testing, Disinfection testing and Microbial Limit.

  • To liaise with clients, business development and line management.

  • Managing small projects.
