Sheffield is home to some of the UK’s most iconic sweets brands: Maynards,

Trebor and Bassett’s. It’s the largest sugar confectionery plant in the

Mondelēz International network across Europe and produces approx. 40,000 tonnes

of sweets each year.

Purpose of the role:

  • To be the Site Leader for ContinuousImprovement methodology – Integrated Lean 6 Sigma (IL6S).

  • Enable delivery of gross productivitytargets in the order of 10% cost reduction year-on-year ongoing.

  • Provide thought leadership and strategydevelopment for the Sheffield site.

  • Business partner Section Managers toidentify and develop productivity ideas generation and delivery.

  • Provide thought leadership and guidanceto the whole site leadership team to develop and engage their behavioursin the move towards High Performing Team ways of working and delivery ofthe IL6S programme.

  • Building a strong foundation of ways ofworking aligned to TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) is key to developingand accelerating the benefits expected from IL6S. The role will provide handson guidance and support to all the IL6S pillars with particular focus ondeveloping Autonomous Maintenance (AM) and Preventive Maintenance (PM).The role has specific accountability for the leadership of the FocusedImprovement (FI) pillar.

Main responsibilities:

  • Define the strategic roadmap to deliveryear on year cost improvement targets.

  • Work with Plant Director and siteFinancial Controller to build the long-term strategy for sitedevelopment.

  • Align the IL6S master plan to defineroll out plan for the site and to successfully deliver each stepwith clear alignment between each pillar.

  • Own the process for effectivelydeveloping an ongoing productivity pipeline for UK Candy & BiscuitsManufacturing. Lead and drive the Continuous Improvement (CI) projectportfolio to deliver site productivity targets ensuring there is a strongpipeline of projects developed from the site loss analysis and developingall colleague engagement.

  • Deliver the site roadmap expectationsthrough the Section and Support function teams by creating a continuousimprovement culture that challenges the status quo. Utilise the existingbusiness processes effectively to secure additional funding as necessary.Deliver sustainable GE performance improvement through the IL6S programmeroll out and using a loss elimination approach.

  • Provide coaching and guidance to theleaders of the AM and PM pillars to develop their thinking and ways ofworking to step through the different TPM phases with engagement andrigour.

  • Coach and guide the site leadership teamto develop their behaviours and ways of working on the journey to becominga High Performing Work Team so that the concept of servant leadership isclearly understood and demonstrated.

  • Support the business to improve existingprocesses and create new ones to become most effective and efficient,making best use of available resources using the CI / L6S (Lean Six Sigma)methodology. Create a continuous improvement culture that challenges thestatus quo.

  • Implement common tools and methods todrive quicker, more transparent and data based decisions by leading thebusiness Integrated Lean Six Sigma (IL6S) programme for the Sheffieldsite. Provide connection to ensure learnings and best practice are shared acrossthe UK Manufacturing network and ensure the Sheffield plant is seen as anIL6S centre of excellence.

  • Ensure significant, sustainable businessprocess improvement with positive financial impact.

  • Know the ethical and legal complianceresponsibilities of the position; lead ethically and model compliantbehaviour; maintain an environment where employees can speak up withoutfear of retaliation; ensure employees in area of responsibility understandthe compliance responsibilities of their jobs and actively participate inthe compliance programme.

Qualifications

Candidate requirements:

  • Degree level equivalent education infinance, business or engineering.

  • Continuous Improvement qualification(i.e. CI Master Black Belt)

  • Strong interpersonal and relationshipbuilding skills as responsibility is based less on formal power but onsound professionalism.

  • Experience of working in a HighPreforming team work culture, embraces the essence of servant leadershipand actively demonstrates a Learn Do Teach approach.

  • Extensive experience in successfulapplication of Lean and 6 sigma techniques.

  • Working effectively as part of aleadership team.

  • Considerable line management experiencein a manufacturing environment.

  • Extensive experience in leading TPMimplementation.

  • Fluency in English.
